![]() Kerf depth decreased with increase in scanning speed. The kerf width and surface roughness increased with increase in laser power up to a characteristic value, decreasing afterwards. All these parameters decreased with increase in frequency. From the experimental results, it was observed that the pulse frequency significantly affects the kerf width, kerf depth and surface roughness. Analysis of surface micro feature was carried out by using optical and scanning electron microscopy. To characterize the kerf features, its width, depth and roughness were measured by using surface profilometer. The main aim of the study was to analyze the relationship of laser micro engraving process parameters like laser power, scanning speed, and frequency on resulting kerf. Experiments of laser micro engraving were carried out on AISI 1040 steel material by using carbon dioxide (CO2) laser. Laser micro engraving is an elegant, clean, fast and non-contact permanent engraving method with high durability. ![]()
